SalarySe claims 37.5% rewards on the first and last day of each month.
It sounds impressive. It isn’t.
The Real Reward Rate
The LevelUP card earns SCoins, and five SCoins are worth ₹1.
Here’s what those percentages actually mean:
- 5 SCoins per ₹100 = 1% back
- 10 SCoins per ₹100 = 2% back
- 25 SCoins per ₹100 = 5% back
- 37.5 SCoins per ₹100 = 7.5% back
The free virtual card gives you 5% on salary days. You need to pay ₹500 plus GST for the physical card to get 7.5%.
The 2% rate only kicks in after you spend ₹20,000 in a billing cycle. The first ₹20,000 still gets 1%.
The Salary-Day Catch
You have to spend ₹5,000 on other days before you unlock the Salary Day bonus.
Even then, only ₹15,000 of salary-day spending counts each cycle. So the most you can get is:
- ₹750 with the free virtual card
- ₹1,125 with the paid physical card
Rent, insurance, education, railways, telecom, government payments and bill payments all earn just 0.2%, even on salary day. Offline payments under ₹2,000 also get 0.2%. Fuel gets you nothing.
That removes many of the expenses around which the “salary day” story is built.
What Credit Card Users Think
SalarySe is still too new to have the community confidence of an established card. The more useful community discussions appreciate the lifetime-free virtual option and quick approvals, but repeatedly point out the misleading percentages and easily missed conditions.
Anyone who checks the numbers sees the same thing: 37.5% means 7.5% at best, with hoops to jump through and plenty of exclusions.
Who This Card Is Actually For
SalarySe credit card is for a very specific spender—not merely someone who receives a salary on the 1st.
Consider it only if you already:
- Spend at least ₹5,000 on eligible purchases on ordinary days
- Spend up to ₹15,000 on other eligible purchases on the 1st or last day
- Use SalarySe UPI instead of your usual app
- Track SCoins, thresholds and exclusions
If your main salary-day expenses are rent, insurance, education, telecom or bills, skip it. Those get only 0.2%.
If most of your UPI payments are under ₹2,000 at small shops, or you want simple cashback without jumping through hoops, look elsewhere.
The Verdict
Skip it.
If you want to track SCoins, schedule purchases and meet the ₹5,000 unlock, you can squeeze some value out. That doesn’t make it a good card for most people.
A reward shouldn’t need this much decoding. If a company calls 37.5 points ‘37.5% rewards’ when they’re worth ₹7.50, I’ll pick a card that tells the truth.
